The Lego Ninjago Movie is an upcoming 2017 3D computer-animated action-comedy martial arts film, directed by Charlie Bean and written by Dan and Kevin Hageman, Hilary Winson, Bob Logan and Paul Fisher. Based on the Lego Ninjago toy line, the film is the second spin-off of the 2014 film The Lego Movie, following The Lego Batman Movie which was released earlier in 2017.It stars the voices of Dave Franco, Michael Peña, Kumail Nanjiani, Zach Woods, Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson, Olivia Munn, Justin Theroux, and Jackie Chan.
Six young ninjas Lloyd, Jay, Kai, Cole, Zane and Nya are tasked with defending their island home, called Ninjago. By night, they’re gifted warriors, using their skills and awesome fleet of vehicles to fight villains and monsters. By day, they’re ordinary teens struggling against their greatest enemy: high school.
The Lego Ninjago Movie will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures on September 22, 2017. It was originally scheduled for a September 23, 2016 release. A short film, The Master, that promoted the feature film was shown in front of screenings of Storks, which took the September 23, 2016 release date. On February 8, 2017, the first trailer was released featuring the song “Bad Blood” by Taylor Swift. The trailer was shown in front of screenings of The Lego Batman Movie.
